Apaporis River

The "Apaporis" river rises in the place known as "Mesa de Pardos" in "La Macarena" town in Meta Department. This river rises from the merge between the rivers "Tunia" and "Ajaju"; It has 1.200 Km lenght  and is the north eastern limit between Meta and Guaviare Department.  "Apaporis" river has black water and its direction points to the north-west and and south-east throughout its route.

The upper part of "Apaporis" river is the natural limit between Caquetá and Vaupés Departments. The river laps Caquetá, Guaviaré, Vaupés and Amazonas lands and also limits Colombia and Brazil. The navigation is not common because the strong torrents throughout the river. One of the most famous torrents is the "Tirijirimo". The tributaries of "Apaporis" river are the rivers from Guaviare and Vaupes.
