Caquetá River

The Caquetá river (known as "Yapura" in Brazil), is a long amazon river of 2,280 km length and is the main water supply of the Amazon River, providing thriteen percent of its flow. Caquetá River It receives the Fragua Grande, Orteguaza, Mecaya and the wide Caguán rivers. In this river it is possible to find the "Araracuara" rapids (Nido de las Guacamayas-Macaw's nest) and receives one of its main tributaries, the "Yari" river. 

The area of this basin is shared by tCauca, Putumayo, Caqueta, Guaviare, Vaupes and Amazonas Departments in Colombia and by the Amazonas state in Brazil where it is named "Yapurá" for finally joining the Amazonas river. Caquetá river is a limit for Caquetá and Putumayo Departments with an area of 665 Km lenght of which 560  its name from Yapura River to finally converge in the Amazon River. It serves as a limit to the departments of Caqueta and Putumayo in a length of 665 km aproximately;  560 Km belong to Solano town.
