Folkloric Festival and departmental beauty pageant for peace and culture
This event is celebrated once a year, in June. In Caqueta's culture there are popular traditional events that are neccesary to preserve because they represent the heritages of cultural loans that have been developed during the colonization process .
This folk festival and "Sanjuanero" (a typical dance) beauty pageant is celebrated as an instrument for strengthening thecultural traditions of Caquetá's community; The Folk Festival and departmental beauty pageant for peace and culture has its origins in the region called "Tolima Grande" where a lot of colonists came from.
Previously,"San Pedro" fest was celebrated with great joy, joining the community but the beauty pageant was not celebrated all the times. A candidate designated by decree was sent, to represent the Department in the national "Bamcuco" (another typical dance) beauty pageant, so a winner from Caquetá was chosen: Norma Arenas.
Since 1995 this festival has had continuity and count on the participation of different towns in the Department.
